Just in case you got a good night's sleep, you can stew on this tonight: Iran says its Bushehr nuclear plant went online last night, beginning testing on the national power grid that had been delayed for years. The Russian-built plant, which Tehran says will eventually supply 2.5% of the nation's electricity, was eking out about 60 megawatts, CNN reports. Eventually, it's slated to crank out 1,000 megawatts.
Iran's state-run news agency says it plans to inaugurate the plant next Monday. The move comes in the wake of an IAEA report that warned of increasing concern over the possibility that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, and which accused it of continuing to ignore sanctions.
