Dick Cheney's Secret: I Wrote a Resignation Letter

Warning: Reading Dick Cheney's memoir could be fatal. Or so says Cheney: "There are gonna be heads exploding all over Washington," he says in an interview to air on Dateline Monday. MSNBC has tidbits from In My Time, and the one generating plenty of waves is his revelation that he signed a secret resignation letter in March 2001 and kept it locked in a safe.

“I did it because I was concerned that—for a couple of reasons," he says in the interview. "One was my own health situation. The possibility that I might have a heart attack or a stroke that would be incapacitating. And there is no mechanism for getting rid of a vice president who can’t function." Also in the interview, he talks about waterboarding, the 9/11 attacks, and what George W. Bush will think of the book.
