Study: Hey, Bisexual Guys Exist!
Good news for bisexual men: You really do exist, according to a new study.   (Shutterstock)

There's good news out there for men who have ever been attracted to both men and women: Unlike the unicorn, you are real. Or so says a Northwestern University study, which goes a long way toward refuting a controversial 2005 study that found that “with respect to sexual arousal and attraction, it remains to be shown that male bisexuality exists.” Says the current study's lead author, “Someone who is bisexual might say, ‘Well, duh!’ But this will be validating to a lot of bisexual men who had heard about the earlier work and felt that scientists weren’t getting them.”

Part of the difference might be in the participants, reports the New York Times: The new study's subjects had track records of sexual relationships with members of both sexes, while the 2005 study pulled its subjects from ads in gay and alternative publications and found that their responses were similar to those of homosexuals. Both studies monitored sexual arousal when participants were shown videos of female-on-female and male-on-male sex. Men deemed bisexual responded to both videos; gays and straights did not.
