Looks like Jon Stewart was right—the media is grossly ignoring Ron Paul. A new study from the Pew Project for Excellence in Journalism has found that Paul is just the 10th leading newsmaker in the GOP field—behind even non-candidates like Donald Trump and Sarah Palin. Paul has been the main figure in just 27 campaign stories; only Rick Santorum and Herman Cain (21 and 11 respectively) had less.
For context, Jon Huntsman had 44 stories, and Mitt Romney, the top Republican newsmaker, had 120. Nor have things improved since he came in second in the Ames Straw Poll. The study scanned television coverage for the next few days and found that Paul was mentioned just 29 times—compared to 371 mentions of Rick Perry, 274 mentions of Michelle Bachmann, and 183 for Romney.
