If even Kate gets airbrushed, there's little hope for any of us. The mesmerizing Duchess of Cambridge apparently wasn't svelte enough for a magazine that digitally shaved several inches off Kate Middleton's frame in a wedding day photo for its cover. Grazia fashion mag showed off an "impossibly thin" bride and triggered another controversy about how women are presented in the media, reports the Guardian. A magazine spokesman insisted the instant slim-down was "inadvertent," and occurred because Grazia shaved Prince William out of the photo.
Grazia "did not purposely make any alternations to the Duchess of Cambridge's image to make her appear slimmer, and we are sorry if this process gave that impression," said a statement from the magazine. The apology came after an investigation by the British Press Complaints Commission. Last month L'Oreal was forced to pull face cream advertisements featuring Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington because the women looked impossibly young with the help of heavy retouching.
