As Ohio goes, so goes the nation? Former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland tells Politico that none of the current Republican candidates can beat President Obama in the state that has picked the winner in 25 out of the last 27 presidential elections. The only one that even stands a chance is Mitt Romney, according to Strickland, who describes the other challengers as crazies.
"The one who seems to be the most rational is Romney. I don’t want him to be president, but at least he doesn’t sound like a crazy person," he said. Strickland, a psychologist, said he wasn't using "crazy" as a clinical term. Strickland lost to Tea Party-backed Republican John Kasich last year, but he says that the backlash against the new governor's "anti-worker" policies are likely to boost Obama's chances in the bellwether state.
