Chris Christie's approval ratings have dived and the Republican would be dead even with his favorite Democratic rock star in a hypothetical 2013 contest for New Jersey governor, according to a new poll. Christie—who has clashed with the Boss over spending cuts—and Springsteen both scored 42% in the poll, reports the Los Angeles Times. Newark Mayor Cory Booker would beat Christie by 47% to 43%, the poll found.
"If Springsteen ran and came across as a credible candidate, he'd likely see a large increase in that Democratic support," the pollsters said, noting that Democratic voters were a lot likelier to describe themselves as undecided than Republican ones. Christie—who says he's seen Springsteen play more than 120 times—is continuing to resist calls that he run for president, although supporters fear that his moment may have passed by 2016.
