A bungled bust outside a movie theater in Connecticut left the suspect and two police officers needing hospital treatment. A pair of officers confronted a suspect wanted on child pornography charges after he left a late-night screening of the new Harry Potter movie. The suspect resisted arrest and reached for his waistband, causing the officers to open fire—just as two more police officers arrived on the scene in a cruiser.
One of the officers in the cruiser was hit by a bullet in the forearm and the other was injured by flying glass when a bullet hit the windshield, reports the New York Daily News. Both were treated at a local hospital and released the same day. The suspect, who was shot in the foot, turned out to be unarmed. He was arrested in the hospital on charges of possession of child pornography. (More child sexual abuse material stories.)
