Glee fans were surprised this week when they found out three of the show's biggest stars would not return after graduating at the end of the upcoming season. Well, it turns out at least one of those stars was equally surprised: Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, tells Access Hollywood he learned about the development at the same time the rest of the world did, "on Twitter." Though he "knew something like that was coming up eventually," he says, he "didn't necessarily know that it was going to be our last season next year." A source says the other two departing actors, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, were similarly in the dark.
“I don’t necessarily want to leave so soon, but I mean, it’s fine. It’s what it is. And all things come to an end,” he says. He adds, to Extra, "That's what happens, kids grow up and leave. We can't be in high school forever. Do I want to leave the show? Absolutely not. This is home for me. But I understand that there's time for a conclusion." Even so, it hasn't been an entirely bad week for the young actor: He was also nominated for an Emmy. “As a performer, I feel so fulfilled," he says. "If it’s time for a conclusion, I’m fulfilled with it, and I’m fine with it.” Click for more on Ryan Murphy's decision not to bring the characters back. (More Chris Colfer stories.)
