How much do you hate PowerPoint? Probably not as much as Matthias Poehm. He’s founded an entire political party dedicated solely to the eradication of the dreaded (but oh-so-user-friendly) presentation software, the Christian Science Monitor reports. The Anti-PowerPoint Party, or APPP, held its first meeting earlier this week, with the goal of “decreasing the number of boring presentations worldwide.” If they can collect 100,000 signatures, they can call a public referendum to ban the program.
Even if they don’t manage to ban the program, Poehm thinks the APPP will help raise awareness of this vital issue. “Over 14 years of public speaking training I have noticed that the use of Flip-chart beats PowerPoint in 95 of 100 cases,” he writes. “This is not wishful thinking on my part but proven experience.” The party even believes companies are losing money as their employees watch dull bullet points fly in—it estimates the damage to be about $500 billion worldwide each year.
