There are some ugly truths about Washington that persist no matter which party is in power: Spending always increases, Wall Street donors always get taken care of, and, maybe most troublesome, “the city’s political gears are always greased for war,” writes Joe Scarborough for Politico. Obama has expanded Bush’s war in Afghanistan and the drone campaign in Pakistan, and started a conflict in Libya. “Against this chaotic backdrop of military adventurism run amok, there is no countervailing force to balance a reckless, skewed foreign policy.”

The media describes conservatives who oppose the wars as "isolationists," which is “ludicrous, especially in light of what these outlets wrote in the age of Dick Cheney." This isn’t some new strain of GOP isolationism. “It is a return to the conservative principles the Republican Party tossed aside over the past decade," and the media needs to respect it. “It is also past time the media start calling the war in Afghanistan what it really is: a fiasco.” (Click to read about John McCain's criticism of the "isolationism" in the GOP field.)
