The world's oldest person is now Besse Cooper of Georgia, at 114 years and 230 days, reports CNN. She gains the Guinness Book of World Records title with the passing of Brazil's Maria Gomes Valentim, who was just shy of her 115th birthday. Cooper actually held the title previously but lost it in May when authorities documented Valentim's records. Valentim, who died of pneumonia yesterday, had been one of fewer than 90 living people known to be 110 or older. (More Maria Gomes Valentim stories.)
