A parade of convicted criminals are today trying to do what Amanda Knox's defense could not: Convince a Perugia court that the American exchange student had nothing to do with the murder of British roommate Meredith Kercher. Mario Alessi today testified that another man convicted in Kercher's murder, Rudy Guede, confessed to him in prison that Guede and an unnamed friend carried out the attack.

Guede has denied making the confession, and prosecutors are questioning giving credence to a Alessi, who is serving a 30-year sentence in the kidnap and murder of an 18-month-old boy. Former mafia member Marco Castelluccio also testified that Guede told him that he and a friend sexually assaulted Kercher, accidentally knifed her, and left her to die, reports CNN; another witness, Luciano Aviello, is expected to testify that his brother was Guede's accomplice.
