(AP Photo/Laurent Cipriani) Even the pros can fall victim to a routine traffic stop: Tour de France champion Alberto Contador was pulled over by a French cop today for cycling down the Galibier pass in the Alps without lights. The officer told the three-time Tour champion that he needed to be visible on the road that snakes down through dark tunnels, a police spokesman said. Contador tried to convince the officer that his team's cars could light his way, but the officer wasn't having it. Contador finally conceded and "put his bike in the car." Contador is training for the Alpine stages of this year's Tour. The race starts on July 2. (More Alberto Contador stories.) Report an error
