The body of beloved Brooklyn jazz musician Stanley Wright was found stuffed inside a trunk in the basement of his home several days after he had last been seen. Police searched the Brownsville home of the 61-year-old, who performed under the name Suleiman-Hakim and was last heard from on Thursday, after his son reported him missing, the New York Daily News reports. Police haven't classified the death as a homicide yet, but relatives suspect foul play.
Wright's car is gone but valuables, including instruments, were left in the home. A back window was missing in the basement, notes the Daily News, and a relative who stopped by his home on Saturday found the front door unlocked and the house noticeably messy. "This is crazy," his great-niece said. "Who would do something like that to him? He was a musician. He was a great man." Wright was the father of three children, including Blade and Dead Presidents actress N'Bushe Wright. (More Stanley Wright stories.)
