In all of San Francisco's 47.6 square miles, you won't find a single domestic new car dealership. The last one, San Francisco Ford Lincoln Mercury, closed 10 days ago with no warning, the Chronicle reports. "It's a tough market. Imports have a much bigger share in San Francisco," says a Chevrolet dealership owner. "San Francisco is not loyal to anything domestic; its allegiance is to anything but domestic."
Adds a former sales manager of an SF Chevrolet dealership that closed 2.5 years ago, "People in San Francisco just weren't buying Cadillac Escalades. You can't even park them in the parking structures here." (More San Francisco stories.)
