An apparently deranged passenger tried to open a door mid-flight yesterday on a Continental plane en route from Houston to Chicago. An air marshal tackled the flier when a flight attendant screamed, and the plane was immediately diverted to St. Louis. There were no other details about the passenger, but officials found no indications of a terrorist threat and no explosives were found on the aircraft, according to reports.
A second flight enroute from Detroit to San Diego was also diverted yesterday when a note with the word "bomb" was found in a bathroom of the Delta aircraft, reports the New York Daily News. "The captain came on and said, 'You notice we're declining. We're getting ready to divert. It's probably a hoax, but we've got to take this very seriously,'" according to a passenger. No suspicious devices were found, according to an FBI spokesman. (More Continental stories.)
