An upscale dessert shop on New York's Upper East Side that serves $25,000 ice cream sundaes has been shut down for egregious health-code violations, including a dysfunctional sewage system, mounds of mouse droppings, and a thriving cockroach population, CBS reports. The shop, Serendipity 3, introduced the extravagant sundae, which comes with a golden spoon, just last week.
The "Frrrozen Haute Chocolate" features 5 grams of infused edible 23-karat gold, a blend of 28 exotic cocoas, and a side of La Madeline au Truffle, which retails for $2,600 a pound. Unfortunately for those with golden sweet teeth who scarfed one or two down in the past week, the gilded goblet may have been filled with sweets and unsavories. (More New York City stories.)
