Looks like Apple will beat Google to the clouds when it comes to music. Insiders tell Reuters that the company is about to launch its version of an online storage service, similar to what Amazon rolled out last month: "Apple's plans will allow iTunes customers to store their songs on a remote server, and then access them from wherever they have an Internet connection."

Amazon may have gotten there first, but Apple could have a big advantage, writes Peter Kafka at All Things Digital. Amazon launched without the blessing of the four big music labels, a move that could cause major headaches over copyright issues. Apple, on the other hand, already has deals with two of the labels and is working to secure the final two, sources tell Kafka. As for Google, Reuters reports that its plans are "stalled."
