Gwyneth Paltrow recently addressed all the anti-Gwyneth sentiment cropping up recently by explaining that all the haters are simply "pissed off" that she has worked her "ass off" to get the amazing life she leads. Er, except, that is patently untrue, writes Keli Goff on the Huffington Post. Gwyneth was "born to Hollywood royalty," but "like a lot of privileged people, she's under the delusion that she earned everything that she has, and then has the audacity to gloat about it."
"There used to be an unspoken pact between those who were born into privilege and the rest of us to keep all-out class warfare from breaking out"—a pact that required the privileged few not to gloat. Nowadays, we have a slew of people, like Gwyneth, "riding their families' coattails more publicly." And it would just be nice if they would acknowledge that they belong to a privileged class, and "not simply pretend that their success is built solely on a combination of hard work and chutzpah."
