The Big-12 has handed down its biggest-ever fine to Mike Leach, the Texas Tech coach who lashed out at game officials following a hotly contested loss last weekend. Leach got a bill for $10,000 and a public censure for suggesting that a referee favored his hometown Longhorns and calling the Big-12 review system "a sham," reports the Dallas Morning News.

The Big-12 pointed out that it has a conflict-of-interest policy preventing officials from calling games involving teams they once played for. Other coaches have indicated support for also keeping officials away from games involving their local teams. The Big-12 pointed out that coaches may submit complaints or videos of contested calls to the conference. (More Texas Tech Red Raiders stories.)
