Filmmaker Claims to Have Jesus Crucifixion Nails

Filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici is convinced he’s found the actual nails used to nail Jesus to the cross—even if no one else is. In a new documentary entitled The Nails of the Cross, Jacobovici will lay out what he calls “the best archaeological argument ever made” that the nails have been found. His tale begins with a tomb found in Jerusalem in 1990 that was hailed as that of Caiaphas, the high priest who presided over Jesus’ trial in the gospel.

Two ancient nails were found in that tomb and, in Jacobovici’s telling, they mysteriously disappeared. Around the same time, two nails turned up in a Tel Aviv lab. Jacobivici’s conclusion: They must be the same nails. “Put it all together and what you have is a probability,” he tells the Telegraph. “There are no other nails you can say the same thing about.” Archaeologists are not exactly convinced.
