Philly college students shelled out $150 to attend a symposium on "the application of Platonic and Hegelian ethics to business"—which somehow managed to involve strippers and lap dances. La Salle University assistant professor Jack Rappaport reportedly hired the strippers, and allegedly applied a little "Hegelian ethics" himself—he reportedly received a lap dance, as did several students. La Salle says it's investigating, but confirms the "symposium" ended when a dean walked in.
Rappaport has taught at La Salle since 1979, and weirdly enough, serves on the school's academic integrity committee. A Philadelphia City Paper blog post by a student claims that participants earned credits in the College of Professional and Continuing Studies or extra credit in Rappaport's business classes by attending the symposium, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The paper also notes that on RateMyProfessors.com, one commenter said Rappaport "loves gambling, horse racing, and strip joints," and called him an "extremely strange man." (More university stories.)
