The dense brush of an isolated Long Island beach yielded three more sets of human remains today, making a total of eight recovered in the vicinity, and giving credence to investigators' suspicions that they're dealing with a serial killer. Police have not identified the remains, nor those of another body found last week, but are searching for a New Jersey prostitute who went missing in the area in May 2010. "We still believe that Shannan Gilbert is in this area," says a Suffolk County detective.
Gilbert was last seen at 4:45am by an Oak Beach man who said she pounded on his door pleading for help, then fled when he went to call police. A man in an SUV later drove by, looking for the woman, then drove off. Neither were seen again. The bodies of four prostitutes who booked clients via Craigslist were found in the area and identified in December. The search is expected to resume tomorrow, reports the AP. There are no suspects.
