Gadhafi Forces Keep Rebels in Retreat

The seesaw fight in Libya continued to tilt in Moammar Gadhafi's favor as his better-organized forces kept rebels in retreat mode, reports the Los Angeles Times. Gadhafi maintained control of his pivotal hometown of Sirte as panicked rebels fled east to Bin Jawwad and demanded more airstrikes: "Where is Sarkozy? Where is Obama?" asked one. The developments came as leaders of the allied coalition met in London, notes the Wall Street Journal.

"All of us must continue to increase the pressure on and deepen the isolation of the Gadhafi regime," said Hillary Clinton. In the US, President Obama echoed his speech from last night at an afternoon event, notes USA Today: "When international law is undermined, we cannot stand idly by," he said, referring to attacks on civilians.
