During the heat of the fight in Wisconsin over its collective bargaining bill last month, an email was sent to Gov. Scott Walker from someone in Indiana. It recommended that a Walker supporter be made to look like a member of the opposition protests. The supporter would then attack Walker—perhaps even with a gun, suggested the email—thus embarrassing the opposition. Obviously, the plan never went through. What really matters is who sent it: Carlos Lam, a deputy prosecutor for Johnson County. Lam resigned after the email surfaced, reported the Appleton Post-Crescent.
The Post-Crescent shares excerpts from the email, as posted by the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism: "If you could employ an associate who pretends to be sympathetic to the unions' cause to physically attack you (or even use a firearm against you), you could discredit the public unions." He closed his email by writing, "Employing a false flag operation would assist in undercutting any support that the media may be creating in favor of the unions. God bless, Carlos F. Lam."
