A top Senate Democrat tried to throw some cold water on the talk of impeaching President Obama over the military action in Libya, saying that if what Obama did was impeachable, so was every US military operation since World War II. “That one-day kind of story, which is all it will be, is not where we ought to be focusing,” Carl Levin told the liberal Bill Press Show, according to the Hill.
Fellow Democrat Dennis Kucinich has raised the idea of impeaching Obama because he launched the attack without consulting Congress. “I raised the question in a private phone conversation with other Democrats,” Kucinich said on Fox Business yesterday. "If a president takes us into a war without consulting—without following the Constitution, would that be an impeachable offense? I did raise that question.” Ralph Nader has raised the question as well. (More Carl Levin stories.)
