Arriving yesterday in Israel for a two-day visit, Sarah Palin had a question for her guides: “Why are you apologizing all the time?” she asked, after learning about the ban on open Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount and the Arab riots following a 1996 Netanyahu decision regarding the Western Wall tunnels. Having toured Jerusalem’s Old City, Palin and her husband are due to have dinner with the prime minister tonight, the Jerusalem Post reports.
“It’s overwhelming to be able to see and touch the cornerstone of our faith,” Palin told the press after visiting the tunnels. Her tour guides, the Western Wall rabbi and a Likud party leader, praised the former governor. “She didn’t go into diplomatic issues, but I can clearly say from the questions she asked” about the Arab-Israeli conflict “that she knows that we are right and that the Muslims are just claiming things for provocation and they’re not right,” said the official. Palin told her guides she keeps Israeli flags “on my desk, in my home, all over the place” and plans to carry around a flag she bought during her visit.
