According to Dr. Phil, it’s not a good idea to let your little boy play with Barbies. Why not? Because it could “confuse” him, of course. On his website, the good doctor responds to a mom who’s concerned because her 5-year-old son likes to play with the aforementioned dolls, as well as wear girl’s clothes. Though Dr. Phil is quick to assure her such behavior is “not unusual,” he also advises her to “take the girl things away, and buy him boy toys.”

Oh, and he makes sure to reassure her that “this is not a precursor to your son being gay.” Even so, the mom should direct her child “in an unconfusing way,” because “you don't want to do things that seem to support the confusion at this stage of the game. Support him in what he's doing, but not in the girl things.” Click for one reaction to the controversial advice.
