'Cartel Queen' Gets Botox in Mexican Prison

Mexican authorities have launched an investigation into a beauty treatment received by a suspected drug cartel queen while cooling her heels in prison. Sandra Avila Beltran—facing charges of cocaine trafficking to the US, money laundering and conspiracy—was given a Botox injection by a doctor last month in an arrangement apparently aided by prison employees, reports CNN.

Doctor request forms were falsified in the Mexico City prison, claiming that Avila, 50, known as the "Queen of the Pacific" in drug crime circles, needed an electro-cardiagram, but got Botox injections instead, according to officials. "The investigation will focus on the possibility that a public servant committed a crime, according to the complaint made by prison authorities," said Mexico City's district attorney.
