Entertainment / Ricky Gervais Gervais Asked to Host Golden Globes Again Despite seemingly offending everyone, HFPA apparently liked ratings By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Feb 1, 2011 7:00 AM CST Copied In this publicity image released by NBC, host Ricky Gervais is shown during the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 in Beverly Hills, Calif. (AP Photo/NBC, Paul Drinkwater) The president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said host Ricky Gervais' "totally unacceptable" behavior at the Golden Globes "crossed the line" … but, er, that doesn’t mean they don't want him back next year. "The ratings went up again, and the organizers asked me to consider a third year," Gervais writes in Heat magazine. "I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure. You know me. Two seasons is enough." "I did exactly what I went to do: Improve on last year’s and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks," Gervais notes. "The question is always, 'Did Ricky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No.' I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it." (More Ricky Gervais stories.) Report an error
