When Bullets Fly, Head for the Filing Cabinet

Say the unthinkable has happened: you're trapped in the office with a co-worker who's pulling an adult Columbine—what do you do? Take cover behind a filing cabinet, advises the NYPD. The recommendation comes from a study on workplace violence done by the department's counterterrorism division, the New York Post reports. In tests, filing cabinets—unlike cubicle partitions or desks—stopped most conventional bullets and shotgun pellets. Only those from an AK-47 got through. Feel better?

The report has all kinds of other advice, including this: "If no other option is available, and you are confronted with the gunman, we recommend trying to confront him with physical force as quickly and as aggressively as possible.
