A sad footnote to a tragic story: The mother of Isabelle Caro, the anorexic model who died last month, has committed suicide. Marie Caro's husband told a Swiss paper that she felt "enormous guilt" about her daughter's eating disorder and death and was beside herself over the press coverage that followed her passing. He says it was Marie who took Isabelle, against her will, to the hospital in November; the model died there.
Aol News notes that in an interview with CBS News, Isabelle connected her disease, in part, to her mother's desire for her to remain a child, saying Marie "spent her time measuring my height. She wouldn't let me go outside because she'd heard that fresh air makes children grow, and that's why I was kept at home. It was completely traumatic." Click for more on anorexia.
