Jared Lee Loughner was possibly connected to the white-supremacist, radical anti-immigration group American Renaissance, "through videos posted on his MySpace and YouTube account," according to a Department of Homeland Security memo, reports Fox News. "The group’s ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti Semitic." said the memo. Giffords is the first Jewish woman to be elected to the US House.

American Renaissance is the publication of the The New Century Foundation, and is described by the Anti-Defamation League as a "white supremacist journal" that "promotes pseudo-scientific studies that attempt to demonstrate the intellectual and cultural superiority of whites," and "the supposed decline of American society because of integrationist social policies." New Century's founder, however, has denied his group was anti-Semitic, and has denied any connection with Loughner. (More Gabrielle Giffords shooting stories.)
