Students of South Burlington High School have spoken—and if they can't grind, they don't wanna dance at all. After administrators banned "grinding"—a form of dancing that's ... actually kind of self-explanatory—nobody wanted to go to the Winter Ball, and it's now been called off, the Burlington Free Press reports. "This is our way of dancing, even if they find it vulgar," said senior class president Kyle Chu.
"It's OK if you do it in an appropriate way," explains another senior. "There's grinding, and there's doing something more on the floor." But the principal isn't budging: "I listened, but I denied their request," he wrote in an email to parents. "I could not accept even the tamest form of this dance as appropriate behavior at a school event, and I also believe the enforcement of 'OK' grinding vs 'obscene' grinding was an untenable task."
