The first Republican candidate has officially entered the 2012 presidential race: Self-proclaimed “King of the Birthers” Andy Martin will seek the office, he told New Hampshire radio. Though he said he’s "clearly" not the frontrunner, "I'm going to have a tremendous impact on the presidential election. I'll be driving the agenda in the Republican Party." Martin actually does believe Obama was born in Hawaii, but he thinks the administration is keeping Obama’s birth certificate under wraps because it holds “embarrassing” information, the Los Angeles Times notes.

His campaign, he said in a press release, will be "designed to force Barack Obama to authorize the release of Obama's original birth certificate and college records." The Huffington Post reports that in the interview, Martin suggested that Obama may have applied to Harvard Law School as a Muslim and had his tuition bill footed by "Saudi money." He also pointed fingers at the Clintons as the ones who first got the "birther" rumors going. Click for more on Andy Martin, who has been swatting at Obama since 2004.
