Another potentially sticky situation involving a dead woman for former Anheuser-Busch CEO August Busch IV. Police received a 911 call Sunday afternoon about an "unresponsive person" at his suburban St. Louis home; 27-year-old Adrienne N. Martin was dead by the time they arrived. A St. Louis County forensic administrator said there were no signs of trauma or illness; the St. Louis Post-Dispatch quoted an unnamed law enforcement source as saying the case was being investigated as a possible overdose, reports the AP.
An autopsy has been conducted but results could take four to six weeks. An attorney for Busch says there was "absolutely nothing suspicious" about Martin's death. "It was a tragic death of a young woman." In 1983, Busch, then a 20-year-old University of Arizona student, left a bar with a 22-year-old Michele Frederick. His black Corvette crashed and Frederick was killed. Busch was found hours later at his home. He suffered a fractured skull and claimed he had amnesia. After a seven-month investigation, authorities declined to press criminal charges, citing a lack of evidence.
