20 Ridiculously Bad Songs of 2010

Best of 2010 lists are fun, but Worst of 2010 lists are arguably even more fun. So without further ado, the Village Voice’s least favorite songs of the year:

1. Train, “Hey, Soul Sister”: Inexplicably, this was the only “rock” song to make it onto the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10 this year. That’s “pretty much proof that rock music is dead, right?”
2. Bret Michaels, “What I Got”: Really, Bret? “Covering a Sublime song is a bad look for even the most bottom-dwelling of local bands.”

3. Glee cast, “Loser”: Glee features many, many regrettable covers, but this one is so bad that “you have to wonder if Death By Jazz Hands is actually possible.”
4. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, “Don’t Pull Me Over”: "Tom Petty doing a reggae song broke my brain … He's a 60-year-old man. He's old enough to be on posters with Bob Marley, if he were cool and dead like Jim Morrison.”
5. Artists for Haiti, “We Are the World”: Charity endeavors by stars are usually just big “ego extensions,” and this 7-minute-long remake monstrosity is worse than most.
