The iPad's success means next month's Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas will be overflowing with tablet competitors, and Clayton Morris at Fox News thinks the stiffest competition will be a new offering from Palm and parent HP. The PalmPad will run on Sprint's 4G network and has hardware specs similar to the iPad, though it's slightly thinner. (Morris got a sneak peek at those specs.)
It will run the WebOS operating system, which has received rave reviews but hasn't yet had a device to show it off well. One of four versions will be tailored to college students. "I’m super excited," writes Morris. "I’ve always felt that Palm’s WebOS, with its card style layout, lends itself to a tablet experience better than any other mobile operating system. And I say that as an unabashed iPad fan. "
