You may never look at the world in quite the same way after reading the new atlas from the Onion, says a Newsweek reviewer. Our Dumb World is the best parody in 30 years, writes Malcolm Jones, with its mix of laugh-out-loud goofball humor and darker satire. The Iraq map, for instance, shows US "soldiers arguing over whose turn it is to wear armor."
The atlas points out interests such as the "glowing beet fields" of Ukraine. And it is "heartbreakingly accurate" on places such as Congo, where the description of atrocities degenerates into an expletive, followed by, "You don't want to know what goes on here." Tennessee, meanwhile, is "like Hee-Haw, but a state." (More atlas stories.)
