Senate Dems Push to Pass 100 Bills in One Go

With time running out in the lame-duck session, Democrats are working hard to push through some 100 environmental bills, Politico reports. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is calling on party leaders to compile a list of public lands and water measures Republicans won’t kill with a filibuster. On the list: Bills designed to protect the Chesapeake Bay, Lake Tahoe, and Great Lakes, among other places.

The package could include some 72 public land bills OKed by the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, 12 from the Environment and Public Works Committee, and 13 from the Commerce Committee. But while several Republican senators have their names tied to individual bills, “there’s no way a giant omnibus like that would gain support among Republicans,” said a rep for GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski. “There’s bills in there we would like to see passed, but not this way.”
