With Four Loko and other alcoholic energy drinks vanquished, regulators are now casting a wary eye on another hot booze trend: alcoholic whipped cream. Boston-area retailers say the 30-proof "whipahol" creams, which come in flavors like chocolate, cherry, vanilla, and caramel, have been flying off the shelves, NECN reports.
"Fourth week in a row we had to reorder it, and I'm like God knows what people are doing with it, but obviously it sells. People are interested," said the manager of one Boston store. A director at the Boston Public Health Commission, however, worries that the packaging doesn't make it clear how much of a kick the creams carry. "If a product looks like something else, it's easy not to be aware that it might contain a lot of alcohol," she warns. (More alcoholic whipped cream stories.)
