What with all the new "enhanced" airport security procedures, passengers on a recent Southwest flight were probably pretty surprised to find a loaded gun magazine on their plane. After landing in Phoenix yesterday, a child crawled off his mother's lap and knocked the gun magazine out of a seat-back pocket, reports CNN. "It belonged to a member of federal law enforcement," though not an air marshal, says TSA chief John Pistole, who adds that the officer will be given remedial training. The TSA believes it was left of the plane during its previous flight.
"We were just taken by surprise," says a CNN photographer who was on the flight. "It was actually almost funny, given the amount of scrutiny that we've been paying to the [TSA] and personal security. It seemed almost funny to see a magazine with bullets in it just sort of lying on the floor of a commercial jetliner."
