If fans are excited about this Sunday's showdown between the undefeated Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, it's nothing to what sports bookies are feeling. The game has already racked up four times the usual number of bets, and those in the know expect "the most wagered-on game of the 2007 regular season," reports the Times.
The spread opened at Patriots -4, and has migrated to -6.5 as the public seems to favor New England. "Point spreads are really public opinion," says Indy coach Tony Dungy, whose team has gone 5-2 against the spread this season. The Patriots have covered 13 of their last 14 games. The 14th? Their AFC-championship loss to the Colts last year. (More NFL stories.)
