One of two units at a nuclear power plant 24 miles north of New York City was shut down after a transformer exploded last night. No one was injured and there was no danger of a radiation leak, officials at the Indian Point plant told AP. The unit will remain closed while the incident is investigated. A Vermont plant owned by the same company was closed half an hour later after workers detected radioactive water seeping from a leaky pipe. Regulators say the two shutdowns were a "complete coincidence." (More Indian Point stories.)
