Stop Time-Change Madness: Here's a Solution

This is one of Kathryn Wilkens' least favorite weekends of the year. On Sunday, she's got to reset her clocks—and her stove, and her watches, and her VCR, and ... you get the picture. But unlike a lot of others carping about the antiquated practice of converting to or from daylight saving time, she's pitching a solution:

"Let's either stay on standard time or daylight saving time year round," she writes in the Los Angeles Times. "People can't agree on which is preferable, so how about splitting the difference? This weekend, we could set the clocks back 30 minutes instead of an hour and then leave them alone. We can call it New Standard Time." (More clocks stories.)
