The spoils of war, apparently: A Navy SEAL is accused of smuggling 80 machine guns and other firearms into the US from Iraq and Afghanistan, then selling them on the black market with two civilian buddies. All three have been arrested after a 5-month federal sting. Cops say Nicholas Bickle was able to bring home so many weapons because SEALs aren't searched upon returning from deployments, reports KLAS in Las Vegas. Look for that little perk to change.
The scheme could have been a profitable one: In one transaction, Bickle and his friends reportedly sold 10 AK-47s for $1,300 each and six handguns for $300 each. Unfortunately for them, the buyer was an undercover agent. Based on their markings, some of the guns belonged to the Iraqi military—and some still had sand in them, notes the San Diego Union-Tribune.
