Audiotape of a baffling UFO sighting has been released, featuring excited American military investigators discussing what they see. Airmen from Bentwaters US Air Force base in Britain talk breathlessly of a "strange red light" that vanishes then reappears, "some form of energy," and barnyard animals going crazy then "deadly calm" during the sighting in Rendlesham Forest near Woodbridge in Suffolk in 1980. "What is it?" asks one commander. "We don't know, Sir," an airman responds. "There's no doubt about it, there is definitely some kind of red light. I see an orange tinge in it. W-e-e-eird," reports another witness.
Then: "It's coming this way. Shut your flashlights off! This is very, very strange," he adds. "The flash is so bright that it almost burns your eyes." As the men watch, a beam of light flashes to the ground and two apparent objects in the sky are covered with "colored lights." The airmen spotted the light show shortly after locating damage to tree tops and a large area of crushed pine needles in the woods after locals first reported sightings. An explanation for the phenomenon was never discovered, according to the tape and other files released as part of a major public airing of British documents concerning UFO sightings, reports the Telegraph.
