Guys who are “sexually aggressive” are less likely to remember if a woman was into them or repulsed by them, while guys who have been in a lot of serious relationships are very good at picking up on women’s cues, according to a new study. The study showed 232 college-aged men images of women, some of whom were sporting come-hither expressions, and some of whom were scowling or otherwise expressing disinterest.
They then asked the men to fill out surveys on their sexual attitudes and histories. This done, they showed them the pictures again, only this time some of the women were making the opposite face. They asked them to pick which photos they’d seen before. Men who’d been in serious relationships were a lot better at this game of memory—while those with aggressive histories did worse, according to LiveScience. The group did fairly well overall, however, particularly when it came to remembering attractive women who looked interested. (More study stories.)
