Feds Raid Missile Expert's Home After He's Stopped at Airport

Federal agents have raided the suburban Boston home of a missile systems engineer who has worked for military contractor Raytheon. Several boxes of items were removed from the home of Richard Lloyd, who was stopped at New York's JFK airport trying to board a flight with a Raytheon laptop computer that had information he was not authorized to have, a law enforcement source tells AP.

Lloyd worked as manager of Raytheon’s Warhead Lethality Group and holds three patents on warhead concepts, according to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Officials for Raytheon, which recently won a $47 million Army contract to develop an infrared combat defense system, says the engineer is no longer connected to the company. A spokeswoman for the US Attorney's office declined to comment on the reason for the raid but stressed that there is "no immediate threat to the community." (More Richard Lloyd stories.)
